5 Steps On How To Expand Your Territories

Here’s The Truth: You’re Only Limited By Your Love

& Imagination!

By Bo Sanchez

Many people ask me how I’m able to do all that I do.

Let me give you an idea of my responsibilities… (Warning: Some people actually feel tired just reading this list, so take a deep breath…)

I lead 4 ministry organizations. I speak in a daily Radio show, a weekly TV program, and a daily video show at www.preacherinbluejeans.com Each year, I churn out 3 books, produce 4 audio/video teaching series, and write more than 200+ articles. I publish 7 magazines, maintain 4 websites, send out my online newsletter and write my blog at this website. I lead a “virtual” community called the Kerygma Family and oversee an incredible “sales force” called the Kerygma Ambassadors. I also travel extensively, preaching 300+ times a year all over the Philippines and around the world—leading retreats, seminars, and prayer rallies. I also am proud to say that I read all my email and respond to most of them.

As if these aren’t enough, there are a “few” personal things that I do…

I run a homeschool center to help parents learn how to homeschool their kids (If you’re interested, log onto www.catholicfilipinoacademy.com) I lead a financial consultancy organization to teach Filipinos how to save for their future. I operate a tiny organic farm, a real estate business, and manage a few more small businesses. (Plus, my 7-year old boy still has his Bangus business, and he’s hired me to be his marketing consultant.)

Of course, I’m fanatical about spending time with my family. I play with my sons everyday and still bring my beautiful wife once a week in a romantic date. We also have 4 family vacations every year, and 2 of those vacations are long 2-week trips!

And each year, I read 3 books a week, listen to the same number of audio books, and each year read thousands of magazine and internet articles.

Oh, before I forget, let me mention that I hop on a stationary bike one hour a day.

How do I do all these things?

Let me share with you five principles…

Key #1:

Believe You’re Bigger

It’s common fact that we only use 10% of our brain’s capacity.

Can you believe that? We’re wasting 90% of what God has given to us!

I believe God has given us more capacities than we think we have.

The ultimate crime is that we belittle ourselves.

We think we’re insects, so we live an insect life, but actually—we’re giants!

Because of this, I believe you can earn a ten times more than whatever you’re earning right now. You can help ten times the number of people you’re helping now. You can serve ten times more than whatever service you’re doing now.

Don’t limit yourself.

You’re bigger than you think you are.

Key #2:

Be Consistent With The Fundamentals

Every morning, I enjoy time with God.

Every morning, I chew on His Word—the Bible.

Every morning, I pray, “Lord, let me love every person I meet today.”

Every morning, I read my life mission, my list of dreams, and my annual goals.

And throughout the day, instead of exposing myself to bad news, I digest good news available around me: I voraciously read inspiring books and listen to inspiring audio talks.

Every night, like a little boy, I kneel beside my bed and thank God for His blessings of that day.

In other words, the reason why I live such an exciting life is because I’m boring.

I’m monotonous.

I’m repetitive.

I do the same basic things again and again and again and again…

I now realize that the reason I can do all those thrilling, exciting, exhilarating stuff is because I do the boring basics every single day of my life. Everyday, I’m grateful. Everyday, I think positive. Everyday, I love. Everyday, I select what I watch, what I read, what I listen to—and stick to what can make me grow. Every single day.

The more I live on planet earth, the more I agree with Jim Rohn when he said that “There’s really nothing mysterious or magical about success. Success is simply the consistent application of fundamentals.”

Be boringly consistent when it comes to the basics.

And in time, you’ll find exciting success knocking at your door.

Key #3:

Focus On Your Core Gift

I have very few talents. Honest!

I don’t know how to cook, how to dance, how to write a computer program, and how to solve the Rubix cube. I don’t know how to do geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. I’m totally lost in chemistry, physics, and biology. I also can’t fix a leaking faucet or do carpentry or repair my car.

But this is what I can do very well: Communicate.

So I focus my entire life on that one thing.

I write well and I speak well. Period.

And I delegate everything to people who are better than I am.

Ask yourself now: What is my core gift?

I have a general rule I follow in my life: I don’t like complicating things just to impress you. So instead of giving you 329 psychological questions filled with scientific babble to discover your core gift (so I could impress you on how intelligent I am), let me just boil it down to 2 very simple questions. Stop reading this book until you answered both of these questions.

· What do you enjoy doing?

· What are you good at

For some of you, it’s technology.

For some of you, it’s teaching.

For some of you, it’s selling stuff.

For some of you, it’s cooking.

For some of you, it’s music.

For some of you, it’s advanced trigonometry. (Yes, I’ve heard there are such strange creatures walking on the face of the earth.)

Key #4:

Build Your Network

My wealth isn’t my money.

My real wealth is my network of friends.

Personally, I don’t think anything great is accomplished without a team.

Even Jesus had a team around him.

A few months ago, I was reading about the interesting world of horse-pulling competitions.

That’s where huge horses the size of elephants pull massive concrete blocks behind them.

Did you know that the grand champion horse could pull the incredible weight of 4,500 pounds? If the average weight of a Filipino is 140 pounds (which happens to be my weight before I eat my breakfast), that means this super horse could carry 32 Filipinos—without wheels! That monster could pull me, my wife, my kids, my parents, my siblings, their spouses, their kids, and all my in-laws combined.

And the second placer horse can pull only slightly lower than the first placer: 4,400 pounds.

That was when the organizers got curious. If these two horses pulled together, how many pounds could they carry? Could they pull 8,900 pounds?

They harnessed both horses and were shocked with the results.

Both horses, when pulling together, carried the mind-blowing weight of 12,000 pounds. That’s 85 Filipinos.

My message? Teams are powerful.

Alone, I can do a lot of things. But with my team, I don’t add but multiply what I can do.

I keep networking. I circulate. I meet people. I build bridges.

So I surround myself with a bunch of people who have impeccable character and fantastic skills. I network with Mentors, Preachers, Administrators, Accountants, Programmers, Lawyers, Financial Wizards, Multi-millionaires, Media Experts, Businessmen, Architects, Engineers, etc…

And everyday, I constantly expand my team.

Key #5:

Create An Autopilot System

Every time I enter into a project, I always do it with a team around me. Never alone. And I choose my team well.

I have a very simple criteria: I choose men and women who are humble (teamplayers) and who are experts in their field. In other words, I search for impeccable character and fantastic skills.

And together, we create a system for the project that’s replicable and duplicable.

In other words, it’s got to run on autopilot without my direct supervision.

Here’s my ideal leader: If I appoint someone to be project head (or organization director or business manager), and after six months, I don’t want him to bother me anymore except for major directional issues. If he still bothers me for tiny matters, I’ve chosen the wrong leader—or I trained him wrongly.

If You Love, The Universe Opens Up To You

Here’s what I’ve learned: Love is limitless! It has no boundaries.

I do what I do because I want to love people.

Each morning, I wake up and ask myself, “How can I bless people today?”

And so I stretch. I go just a teensy bit beyond what I think is my limit—and my capacities expand—because I want to bless the world.

  3. It's really fantastic about expanding the territories. Its very nice idea and super-duper wonderful suggestion to succeed in life. I'm a Bo fanatic---and many ridicules me because i'm followong your idea and character much. But it doesn't affect because of the saying i read which i forgot the founder" to Succeed in life 'follow the steps of a fortunate man and you will come to fortune'. That's why i decided Kuya Bo, to be my role model in life. Whatever success i have i owes it to you for God's using right people to inspire a lot that there're no impossible dream. I'm a student and about to graduate. And a young lambasted, gossiped, pull down, degraded preacher by our parish community that my community almost to collapse now. Thanks Bo, i was inspired alot from that's why isn't easy for me to quit. I now discover now that my gift is to write and speak. Many doubts of my abilities especially my leaders but thank God sending small people who regularly listens to my talk that keeps appreaciating, uplifting, invigorating my energy and my spirit to develop more my talents and skills. I am now posting my monthly magazine to our parish CYM bill board and giving regular talk on a youth prayer meeting. Our community is very very poor because all members are poor that's why i'm very fanatical of raising financial wisdom of what you're preaching and writing right now. I regretted,i could't attend any of your financial seminars but i know God would lead me when is the right time. I read your latest book already which i borrowed money tomy friend. Lastly, some of my friend crticised you just like as they criticises me. Well, i just pray for them to be enlighten. Bo, i agree with Fr. Santos "you are an annointed one" who live in a comtemporary era feeding thousands of innocent sheeps. I salute you!!Kuya Bo my role model.

  30. Hi, Bo!

Refreshing article!!! It's a great, practical follow up to the book, "The Prayer of Jabez"!!!

It's so true how we have imaginary, self-imposed boundaries. Or even make simple things complicated, thus discouraging our own selves in the process! You're so right when you said, "Simplify and Create Abundance"!!!

God bless you and may He continue to expand your territories!

I fell that my life is too boring as I may say so, but with your inspirational messages, something that I can apply to my daily life, heading to the right direction until such time of retirement, and hopefully and prayfully that I could still have a family that I can call my own. I signed up on your Bo's Soulfood Email, expecting to receive your messages this coming weeks, so I could use, relate my life to. Well, just want to say thank you for opening a new interesting path, I could say for myself through all your inspiring words and encouragement. May God Bless you and your family always. 44. hi bro. bo, i've been listening/watching your daily internet show (preacher in blue jeans). this really helps me to be more spiritually nourished and uplifted. i've learned many things in life and realized many things that i can do as a child of God. i may not be that someone so famous, but i know that i can still do something for others to glorify God. if i can save soul one at a time, i know God will be more happy for this than i just being good. your magazines (kerygma, didache, sabbath, companion, fish), your shows (kerygmatv, preacher in blue jeans) and your teachings (thru kerygma feast) and with my community here in our company, has really made and continually making me a better person....i'm still a "work-in-progress" christian, but i know God will always be with me, never leaving me....Bro. Bo, may you and your ministry grow and continually share to the people of God your treasure, time and talent.....I salute you all and may GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU ALWAYS! c",)

As a nursing student, i have so many problems and pressures getting inside me. But when I read about Kerygma and Didache, my heart opened for the good possibilities that Life and God can bring. I thank Sir Bo because not only the words he had written relax a bothered mind because of thinking about a problem and its solution, but also the woirds that Sir Bo had written can really be considered a medicine for the soul.

I really SALUTE you Sir Bo!!!
    Thanks po...

  55. Bro. Bo. Im inspired with that. I will try my very best to follow what you wrote. It opens my mind to be more sensitive to what i can give to people who needs my help. It also inspired me because i always think that im too tired of doing things just to accomplish what i need to do. But you opened my mind to do things even in the hardest part that i think but the truth is that I can do anything just to think that God is really there to guide and help me... And through my own way i can touch & help more people if i believe I can.. thank you & God bless us all. Dont stop doing what God wants us to do...

  57. Hi Bro. Bo,

I started reading Kerygma magazines when I was in high school, now that I'm 24 and working, living alone here in Jakarta I must say that kerygma is one big factor of shaping who I am now. We met actually when you visit Jakarta November 10, 2007, you may not remember it but I know the universe will make a way for me to meet you again in one of your talks. You know, I have this big dream/goal and I would be very happy if you could be one of my mentors. God will make a way, that I know for sure.

God bless you. More power to Kerygyma!

  58. Hi Bro. Bo!

I admire you for inspiring somewhat hopeless souls like me. At some point I feel like giving up, asking God about my pupose in this world. But with God's blessing, I was able to realize my purpose in life through your articles. You continually inspire me to continue to live despite of struggles in life.

You know what, we lost our father when I was barely 3 years old and our eldest sister was only 14. I have 8 siblings and just imagine how hard it was for my mother to nurture all of us. I've been though a lot of diffuculties even up to the point of doing hard manual labor just to survive. I feel like our struggle towards financial freedom is endless. At times I wonder what could have been our financial situation if my father did not succumb to illness. We were materially blessed then, that was when our father was still alive. And it was a 180 degree turn when he was gone. Everyday was and is still a struggle to survive. Though I already have a stable job, it seems that it's still a long way to go. But when I've read this article I realize that I play a big role in ending our financial struggles. This article opened up new perspectives that would lead us to financial freedom, that is to be consistent in whatever good thing that I am doing in my own little way.

Bro. Bo don't get tired of uplifting our spirit. I owe you a lot! I'm very grateful to God for allowing you to come into my life. Mabuhay ka at ang iyong pamilya! God bless!

  63. Bo, i know you've heard this a million times.. "Bo, you're such a blessing." I can't thank the Lord enough for all the things that I've learned from you. Application, of course, is the hardest thing. But not that hard if I only have a great heart and a great desire for life. As I read your book (truly rich), I can't help but feel squished by some examples because I know that I am that person.. (I won't mention which character it is.. hehe) But it hit me like a wall. I don't want my life to go to waste. I want to make the best out of it. I thank you for inspiring me to become the best person that I can be. I have belittled myself sometimes. I really like the line when you said that we are bigger than what we think we are. I also like the line of the owner of Julie's bakeshop, "Everything I need, comes to me". Because of her passion and her focus, beautiful things really happen to her. I started writing my dreams a few days ago. And one of my goals is to be part of your ministry.. hopefully, be able to give, with love, to your charity because I believe so much in what you are working for. I want to be part of that and of other life-creating projects out there. Once again, I thank you and may God bless you gazillionfold. :)

    Hi Bro. Bo,

You are a blessing to a lot of people, and that includes me. I'm sure you get a lot of thanks and appreciation from all kinds of people everywhere, I'm one of them now. You're so real, down to earth person and people are able to relate with you. I pray that you will not allow anything to change you, the basic you - unspoiled, simple, radiating God's light and love. Oh how the world needs people like you... we need leaders that walk their talk, not simply talk...I see you as that kind of a leader. You inspire me to be a better person in a world full of challenges which tests one's ability to stay the right course or pull a person in the opposite direction. God bless you, your family and your team!

But the things she was telling me only dawned upon me after reading your book very recently. The first thing I've done is to write down my plans in life. It's not too lenghty but it definitely involves making more in order to give more. Things are actually starting to come together and I am truly grateful. God has his way of leading us to the things we do (including reading your book). May you continue to inspire others towards positive action. Take care always!

Inspiration is not the word for you but you switch "ON" something to all the people who may choose to read your articles. And I do personally thank you for that because I'm one of those. 104. dear Bro. Bo,

Hi! How are you doin'? I am a first timer in your website and I don't regret the last 30 mins. or so I spent on it. I came across you when I was browsing for inspirational books on one of my trips back home. I thought "Hmm, who's that guy smiling so big at me?" I got two of your books, out of curiosity to be honest. Then I found out it was more than serendipity. God practically led me to them. I especially found them liberating. You know what made me feel so glad and proud? It was discovering that a Filipino can be so blessed in his preachings too. I looked up to foreign inspirations if you know what I mean. And what hit home soon is the fact that since we have been molded by the same culture, I could really identify with you and your stories with me. I'm determined to attend one of your live preachings when I'll be going back next month. I'd be really glad if you can tell me where I can go to. On an ending note, on the 5 principles, key #2, I don't know why I can't really grasp the first one there. (Yes, I'm actually asking you to enlighten me there.)

Iam awed as to how God has sent one of His disciples in my life time. Press on. I know that God is always with you. And thank you for sharing Him to us.

  126. Bo,

I have been a fan of yours since I was exposed to the Kerygma subscriptions we were mandated (sorry for the word) to have during our high school days. I never really read the Kerygma articles way back (unless our Religion teacher announced a quiz that would cover one of the articles or if it would give extra 5points in the periodical exam) because I was so busy trying to fit in, you know, teenage stuff. But when I stepped into college, one day, I found myself browsing through the old Kerygma subscriptions I had and I got so inspired with the stories I was able to read that I started buying Kerygma again, whenever I got the chance. Now that I have recently graduated college, so many things have changed and, along the way, so many things have changed. I fell completely out of my Christian track and I am so glad that I thought of searching for your website in the internet. I really needed a guide and God has provided me with your new articles to read.

  127. What do you enjoy doing?

    What are you good at

what if i am not sure as to what i enjoy doing or what i am good at.. what if i am the type of person who is a Jack of all trades, master of none... do you have any reading materials that can help me find who i am?

  128. Dear Bro. Bo,

Thank you for being such an inspiration, most especially to a spiritually immature person like me. I've always wanted to change a part of my attitude and to grow spiritually and i've always been a failure. Maybe i've been using the wrong tool. But this time, after being convicted to read your blogs everyday, Im quite sure, I can achieve the changes I've been longing for.
May God bless you more so that you would continue to be a blessing to others.

  131. Lately I had this dilemma of how I could grab all opportunities given to me without sacrificing my relationship with my family and with Lord.

I am glad I have read this article. Now I realized that I am still living an insect life, yet worry too much. I think what Bo emphasizes here is that we should not only live a balanced life but a harmonious one.

Thank you Brother Bo. I look forward to attending one of your talks :)

im married and i have 4 kids,i used to be working abroad with my husband leaving our kids with my sister.after working there for 15 years i chose to come home to be with our kids for good.
but ive noticed this time of our lives ,especially my children, they just lacked spirituality...we go to church regularly though, but its not wholeheartedly...i wish youcan help me in any way ,so they can become closer to God.in this way ,they can be out of any temptations or anything of that matter.
i look forward in Gods name ,that you can extend your helping hand..may God bless you.

  133. Dear Brother Bo,

You are an inspiration to my mom and recently, to me. I had just started reading your articles and I'm telling you every time that I do, I get moved--really moved. I get inspired to do the same thing, give back or share whatever I have to others. I still have lots of problems to deal with, lots of stuff to encounter on my way to having a strong relationship with God. I'm just eighteen years old but I think with your help and His, I can do lots of great things. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I hope each and everyone of us can be like you in our own ways. GOD BLESS YOU.

    Bro. Bo,

I am one of the fanatic readers of your books. Right now, I am reading your book, How to Live a Life of Miracles. It's really a great book. It helps me to realize how the Lord gives us so much blessings which will be depended on how we give Him the full trust of providing us everything we want to have and to achieve. Everytime that I read your articles, I feel like getting closer to the Lord. It helps me to understand my being and my purpose here on earth. It changes my attitude and my way of communicating and of relationship to people.

With your words and wisdom imparting to us, I am beginning to be at closed to people and to love them even if in our own nature, is very much difficult to be loved.

Thank you very much for teaching me how to transform myself in a way that God will become glorified. Thank you for for exposing me into the reality of life and how to face its challenges with the guidance of the Lord.

More power and may the Lord God continues to bless you and to expand your organizations, teams and territories.

    God bless you!!!

  163. Hi Bro. Bo!

First I want to thank God for giving us lots of lay persons w/ great love to just give an inspiration & whom we can turn to amidst diversities and difficulties..and you're one of them! Once again, way back in 1990's, I think your group started a small preaching session at St. Francis of Assissi after office hours once a week, pls. bear if my memory failed to remember it right, but anyway, I and my officemates w/c were also my brothers & sisters in a prayer community were just few of those attendees..but now, bcoz of your unfailing love and zealousness w/ passion as well of serving the Lord, your ministry spreads like virus, infecting massively in every corner of the planet earth! I know that was your dream way back then, ang bata pa nga natin nun, i'm happy that you never changed your mission vision kahit na medyo nadagdagan mga priorities mo..you're right in setting the above steps on how to expand your territories, especially key#2 & 3...more POWER And God be w/ you and your family and the rest of our brothes and sisters in faith! Thanks for inspiring me once again!

  170. Hello Kuya Bo,

Some two years ago during my last year in college, we were told by our professor in our Dynamic Leadership and Management subject to write a paper on our leader model and (masyado mang obvious) I wrote about you. And I'm super proud that I did. Your stories, your articles and your books are so good to read and you may call me corny and crazy pero there are instances na sobrang tawa ako ng tawa sa mga sinulat mo tapos maya-maya naiiyak na ko kasi nakakatouch 'yung mga lesson na natutunan mo at gusto mong matutunan namin. Sabi ko one day, I'm not going to be like Bo Sanchez but I'm going to follow his good examples and lessons and be the best me that I can be. Thank you so much for the inspiration, kuya Bo.

    P.S.
I got the highest score for that paper I did and wonders if it's okay to publish that paper in our yahoo group =)

  173. Now finally that my second attempt also worked, I would like to share that if this service continues for 12 more y.o., I will be joining it most definitely because I set sort of a time clock for myself to render service to the community.

At this stage, I focus on my financial requirements and I have big dreams set this year and I just can't wait to see how things will unfold next year. I am so excited because I know that once we focus on our dreams, they will come true.

What Bro Bo has presented here is a good reminder for us to read & re-read so that we could apply it to ourselves. Sort of a check if even necessary.

God bless Bo and hope to be working with you soon.

I really hope you can be our retreat master for Lent of 2010 for the members of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Cagayan. Your thoughts on becoming well rounded Christians can help empower our members to become positive change agents in the market place. If people in positions of influence can be energized and directed towards working for God and His Kingdom, imagine the impact it would have on these three provinces. God bless you and your work and family.

my 19 yr old daughter just underwent an operation a month ago at the Orthopedic Hospital in Quezon City. She;s an Osteogenesis Imperfecta patient. 2 days ago, she sent me an sms saying that "bakit hindi pa ako kunin ni LORD, wla nman akong silbi."upon receving that txt msg i was completely derailed.i called her back in the Phils & asked her whats the matter?i was crying bcoz i know she's really in a depressed situation now.she's tied up to a wheelchair, cannot do nothing except to command whatever she needs and whatever she wants.the only thing she wants, was she was asking my sister who is taking care of her to buy her books so that she can read.(by the way, she's sort of a bookworm)she reads a lot.but then my sister wasnt able to buy her the book she wants.that was the start of her self pity."if only i can walk, i will not ask favor from you"that what her exact words.so, i told my sister, tomorrow morning, go & buy what she wants.

today, i sent her an SMS asking how she feels.& told her not to send me anymore such msgs like these.i told her, GOD loves her very much that she doesnt have to feel & think like this..she was already in a good mood, and told me that was only one of my bad days and asked for an apology.

she then sent me this site and told me, "mom, go to this page. its so amazing, very inspirational "and she loves it! and that 's what i did..i even asked her how come she found this site using only her celfon.she doesnt have a computer even.she's happy now & i thank GOD for guiding her..prayers works a lot..

    Thank you very much....
